Who we are

Burnsville Health and Nutrition, in operation since 1985, serves Yancey County North Carolina and the surrounding communities with a carefully curated selection of health products. Originally a small store offering vitamins, supplements, and personal care products, Burnsville Health has grown to meet the demands of a growing community.

Tara

Tara Lee is a licensed Acupuncturist and herbal practitioner, in practice since 2002. You will usually find her in the store helping a customer find just the right product to support their wellness or placing product orders to keep the store stocked with inventory. Tara also produces Farmgirl Gourmet, a line of healthful seasoning blends and herbal teas.

She earned national recognition in Martha Stewart’s Living Magazine for her herbal rub called Salt of the Earth, and she has many loyal customers that include her Planet Garlic blend as a must have in the kitchen.

Tara and her family have lived in Burnsville, NC since 2005.

She will be the first to tell you not to expect the store to open exactly on time every day because getting away from the farm can be a challenge. She feels grateful to be blessed with small town life and customers who are willing to come back when the sign says OPEN!

The store has a surprising collection of many products you may not find any where else around.

Tara Lee purchased the store in 2014 and has expanded the selections to include a wide array of bulk medicinal and culinary herbs, essential oils, and locally and regionally made products.

Recently she has added organic and natural groceries and spiced it up with specialty and gourmet products sourced from small businesses.

You can find anything from a paleo snack bar or cauliflower pizza to fresh local eggs and hand-made sauerkraut.
